Ravens Sign Former Titans CB
After being released by the Tennessee Titans just over a week ago, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is now heading to the AFC North. On Tuesday, as first reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Baltimore Ravens signed Awuzie, who previously played for the Titans.
According to a post on X by Rapoport, it’s a one-year minimum contract, while Tennessee still owes Awuzie $7.5 million.
A San Jose native, the 6-foot, 202-pound player was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, where he played until 2020. During his time with the Cowboys, Awuzie appeared in 49 games, accumulating 213 total tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. However, a hamstring injury in his final season limited him to just eight games.
In 2021, Awuzie joined the Cincinnati Bengals, where he spent three seasons (2021-2023). Over that span, he racked up 156 total tackles, two interceptions, and 25 pass breakups across 27 games, although he missed most of 2022 due to an ACL injury sustained while covering Amari Cooper.
In March 2024, Awuzie signed a three-year, $36 million contract with the Titans, including nearly $23 million in guaranteed money and a $7.5 million signing bonus. He was set to start alongside cornerback L’Jarius Sneed but suffered a groin injury in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers, which led to a disappointing season. He started just seven games, recording 26 tackles, an interception, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
Awuzie was released by the Titans on March 15 and is now looking for a fresh start in Baltimore.
