Cowboys Target Next Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman in Latest Mock Draft
In the latest NFL.com mock draft, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to strengthen their offensive line. While the Cowboys and Jerry Jones’ leadership have faced criticism for various reasons, such as inactivity in free agency and Jones’ media presence, one often-overlooked positive is their ability to consistently draft Pro Bowl-caliber offensive linemen.
Under Jerry Jones, the Cowboys have selected five offensive linemen in the first round, with four of them earning multiple Pro Bowl selections. The only exception is Tyler Guyton, who is just beginning his NFL career.
In a recent mock draft, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks projects the Cowboys to pick Missouri offensive lineman Armand Membou, a player who could continue their trend of drafting top-tier offensive linemen. “With Zack Martin’s retirement leaving a major gap in Dallas’ O-line, this Missouri standout could help the Cowboys return to dominating at the line of scrimmage,” said Brooks.
Membou earned second-team All-SEC honors last season, allowing no sacks and playing a key role in the run game. While this might not be the most exciting pick, especially considering the Cowboys have drafted three offensive linemen in the first round over the past four years, Membou stands out as the best option to replace the retired Martin—particularly after Martin’s decline in his final season.
It would be an intriguing storyline if the Cowboys were to replace their Hall of Fame offensive lineman with a rookie who has the potential for a similar future.
