A Wonderfull Display By Wisconsin Badgers Front Line During Their 42-7 Display

Although there has been a lot of discussion about the performance of the quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers, the offensive line also stood out in the game against Rutgers.

While the Rutgers Scarlet Knights may not have a stellar defense this season, they do have a determined team. Coach Greg Schiano possesses the ability to inspire people, and has successfully boosted the performance of players such as quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis. Nonetheless, technique proves to be more effective than motivation, leading to the Wisconsin Badgers overtaking the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the end.

Maybe the reason why Wisconsin was successful against Rutgers was due to the almost flawless performance of the offensive line. There is a lot of scrutiny on quarterback Braedyn Locke as numerous fans and analysts doubt his ability to be the starting quarterback. Nevertheless, Locke still manages to make a positive impression, and the opportunity given to him by the line has contributed to his success.

Locke only had eight incomplete passes versus the Scarlet Knights, thanks to the strong offensive line providing him with ample time. The quarterback’s interception was not caused by being rushed during the play, but rather was simply due to an accuracy error. Despite Rutgers recording a sack, the offensive line’s performance in the rushing game was more impactful.

The offensive line’s true triumph lay not in pass defense, but in their effective blocking for Tawee Walker during the run.

Following Chez Mellusi’s unfortunate exit from the team, Walker took over as the starting running back role. In each game and practice, Wisconsin had been distributing the majority of the carries to the player who seemed the most impressive. Nevertheless, Walker would now have the primary duty of receiving the majority of touches from the backfield for Wisconsin.

Walker showed no reluctance against Rutgers, tallying 24 attempts, 198 yards, and three touchdowns for the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin has historically possessed a solid offensive line, however, they have recently shifted away from employing heavy running formations. The Badgers staff made a different decision with Walker and the offensive line against Rutgers, which had excellent results for the team.

Wisconsin was dominating the blocking game, creating large openings for all ball carriers. Walker was not alone in achieving success, with running backs Cade Yacamelli and Darrion Dupree also finding success running against the Rutgers defense.

A big part of the offensive line’s success this season can be attributed to the new addition of AJ Blazek as the offensive line coach. The coach altered the line’s blocking approach and made adjustments to the line’s practice routine. The team has not only welcomed Blazek, but offensive line recruits have also enjoyed getting to know a coach who is both enthusiastic and laid-back simultaneously.
