Alabama Emerging as Favorite for No. 1 QB Elijah Haven Ahead of April Visit

No matter how you evaluate Kalen DeBoer’s early tenure, his recruiting success with the Alabama Crimson Tide has been undeniable. Since taking over in Tuscaloosa, DeBoer and his staff have maintained strong momentum on the trail, consistently targeting top-tier prospects—and that appears to be continuing with five-star quarterback Elijah Haven.

According to reports, Alabama is currently in the lead for Haven, who is widely viewed as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class.

Haven has taken a patient approach to his recruitment, carefully weighing his options while programs across the country make their pitches. The Dunham School standout has also been busy beyond football, coming off a state championship season before shifting his focus to basketball, where a deep postseason run limited his ability to travel for visits.

Even so, Alabama has continued to stand out—particularly after Haven experienced the atmosphere in Tuscaloosa during a rivalry game against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Elite Production Fuels No. 1 Ranking

Haven’s performance on the field backs up his lofty reputation. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback is coming off a dominant junior campaign, throwing for nearly 4,000 yards and a state-record 62 touchdowns while completing more than 73 percent of his passes. He also added close to 800 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, highlighting his dual-threat ability.

His standout season earned him Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors and a spot in the prestigious Elite 11 Finals.

Another Key Visit on the Horizon

Haven is expected to return to Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s A-Day event in April, giving the coaching staff another chance to strengthen its position.

While Alabama currently holds the edge, the recruitment is not settled. Haven is expected to make a decision later in April, meaning DeBoer and his staff will need to continue their push to secure a commitment from one of the nation’s most coveted prospects.
