2028 QB Neimann Lawrence Lists Virginia Tech Hokies football Among Final 10
Elite 2028 quarterback Neimann Lawrence has trimmed his recruitment to 10 programs, and Virginia Tech made the cut. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound standout is regarded as one of the top signal-callers in his class and included the Hokies as one of two ACC schools in his top group.

Lawrence is considered one of the most gifted overall prospects in the 2028 class. According to 247Sports, he is a four-star recruit with a 90 rating, ranked No. 38 nationally, No. 4 among quarterbacks, and No. 10 in Florida.
The 247Sports Composite views him even more favorably, grading him as a five-star prospect with a 0.9864 rating. In the composite rankings, he sits at No. 27 overall in the country, No. 3 at quarterback, and No. 8 in the state of Florida.
Lawrence currently holds 28 scholarship offers. In a June 27, 2025 scouting report, 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins praised Lawrence as an advanced passer with strong field awareness, smooth mechanics, and rare arm talent. Ivins highlighted his ability to throw accurately on the move, avoid pressure with athletic footwork, and perform well against top-tier competition.
Virginia Tech’s quarterback room is already crowded. Kelden Ryan and AJ Brand return from the 2025 roster, while the Hokies also added Ethan Grunkemeyer (Penn State), Bryce Baker (North Carolina), and high school signee Troy Huhn out of Mission Hills High School in San Marcos, California.
Assuming Huhn redshirts, Ryan, Brand, Grunkemeyer, and Baker would project as redshirt juniors by the time Lawrence arrives on campus, with Huhn as a redshirt sophomore.
While making Lawrence’s top 10 is notable, Virginia Tech faces long odds. The Hokies previously had two quarterbacks committed in earlier cycles: Cole Bergeron, who is now pledged to Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football, and Huhn, who is already enrolled.
For comparison, Bergeron ranked as the No. 19 quarterback in the 2026 class, and Huhn was No. 28 at the position. Lawrence, meanwhile, is rated as high as No. 4 nationally at quarterback — underscoring just how competitive his recruitment will be.
