Kansas State Secures Commitment From Legacy Recruit Canaan Smith

Kansas State football has added to its 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of interior offensive lineman Canaan Smith, a Texas native with family ties to the program.

Smith, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 295 pounds, announced his decision on Monday, March 16. The Plano, Texas product becomes the third pledge in head coach Collin Klein’s 2027 class.

A standout from Prestonwood Christian, Smith is currently unranked by major recruiting services. However, he drew interest from several programs, including Baylor, Iowa State, Kentucky, UTEP, and Air Force, before choosing Kansas State.

His commitment carries added significance, as his father, Jeff Smith, previously played for the Wildcats and later worked with the program in various roles.

Smith joins fellow 2027 commits Nazir Pitchford, an athlete, and defensive lineman Dawayne Jones in Kansas State’s growing class.
