News: Iowa has landed its first five-star recruit for the 2025 class.

On Thursday, Scott Starzyk, a five-star kicker from The Woodlands, Texas, announced his commitment to Iowa. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound Starzyk, the top kicker in the 2025 class, chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Syracuse, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and several other schools.

Starzyk will be attending Iowa on a full-ride scholarship.

Iowa special teams coordinator LeVar Woods is recognized as one of the nation’s top special teams coaches, and his prioritization of Scott Starzyk means a great deal to the Texas native.

“It’s impressive how detailed Coach Woods is with the specialists and every decision he makes, along with the consistency in the program due to Coach Ferentz’s long tenure,” Starzyk commented.

Starzyk becomes the 13th member of Iowa’s 2025 class.

Iowa rarely offers full-ride scholarships to high school specialists, highlighting how much they valued Starzyk and their need for a kicker in this class. With Drew Stevens having two years of eligibility left, if he stays for his senior season, Starzyk will likely redshirt and then compete for the starting spot with Tripp Woody in his second year.
