Rameir Hardy Commits to Temple: “I Want to Be the Change That the City Needs”

Rising senior wide receiver Rameir Hardy from Philadelphia’s St. Joseph’s Prep announced his commitment to Temple on Thursday night. In an exclusive interview with OwlsDaily, Hardy shared his reasons for choosing Temple and his journey to this decision.

OwlsDaily: Why did you choose to commit now rather than in June during the visit period or waiting until later?

Hardy: “I committed on my official visit, which was 2-3 weeks ago. I just never announced it to the public. But I committed to Temple because I felt as though it was right for me. I love my city and I want to be the change that the city needs.”

OwlsDaily: So why did you wait a few weeks to make it public?

Hardy: “I waited until now just because we were in the middle of getting everything together as a team, so I was just really focused on football and getting better and bonding with my teammates. And I didn’t really want to have any distractions within the locker room. So I waited to announce it to the public, but I did announce it to my team when we were all together. And today we got off for the next three days, so after these next three days all the commitment hype will blow over and we’ll be ready to get back to work on Monday.”

OwlsDaily: Being that you’re from Philadelphia and you go to school down the street from Temple, how much have you been through campus and were there things you saw for the first time on your official visit?

Hardy: “I’ve been to Temple a lot. We practice there at Edberg-Olson Hall. So the official visit, it was just me basically bringing my family along to see everything that Temple has to offer and just talk with the coaches. Because I had seen most everything, but one part of campus I had never seen was the dorms where the athletes stay. But I’ve been around Temple a lot. I go to school right down the street and we go over to Chipotle and Chick-fil-A and all the Temple campus restaurants.”
