“Blessed to Receive the Offer for the Shockers” Wichita State Lands Key Commitment of Highly Rated Athlete

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Shawnee Heights standout volleyball player Kaydence Torrez is headed to Division I.

The incoming senior recently declared her commitment to play at Wichita State. Although she received several offers, she felt a strong connection to the Shockers.

“The campus is incredible, and the coaches are probably the best you could ever hope for. I was looking at a few options, but Wichita definitely rose to the top,” she said.

As a middle hitter, Torrez understands that becoming a Division I athlete is a significant achievement, but for her, it simply allows her to keep playing the sport she loves, regardless of the level.

“It really means everything. Just knowing that people believe in me to compete at such a high level is truly amazing,” she told 13 Sports.

With just one season left as a Thunderbird, she aims to guide her team through a successful postseason tournament.
