Boston Bruins Prospect Spotlight: Unleashing the Sharpshooter’s Instincts

Andre Gasseau was born on July 3, 2003, in Garden Grove, California, into a family deeply rooted in hockey. His father, James, and uncle Sandy both carved notable paths in the sport, with James playing for the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League and Sandy for the San Diego Gulls in the West Coast Hockey League during the 1980s. From a young age, Andre displayed a promising talent, honing his skills with the Los Angeles Jr Kings from ages 13 to 15, where he concluded his tenure with an impressive 58 points in 45 games.

His ascent continued at Shattuck St. Mary’s during the 2019-20 season, where Gasseau thrived with the 16U AAA team, tallying 33 goals and 29 assists across 45 games. Subsequently, he joined the prestigious United States National Development Program, initially playing for the U17 team until the season was abruptly curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Undeterred, Gasseau transitioned to the U18 team for the 2020-21 season, contributing 12 goals and 15 assists in 43 games, alongside competing in the USHL schedule.

The culmination of his junior career arrived with the 2021 NHL Draft, where the Boston Bruins secured Gasseau in the seventh round, 213th overall. Elite Prospects characterized him as a dynamic shooter with innate instincts, noting his ability to find open space on the ice and execute precise shots, whether via one-timers or swift wrist shots. His adept puck-handling skills were complemented by a robust two-way game, marking him as a promising prospect for the Bruins.

Transitioning to the 2021-22 season, Gasseau embraced a new challenge with the Fargo Force, amassing 22 goals and 16 assists across 60 regular-season games. His standout performance drew attention, leading to a commitment to Boston College for the 2023-24 season, where he joined fellow Bruins’ prospect Oskar Jellvik. At Boston College, Gasseau maintained a consistent scoring touch, notching 29 points in each of his first two seasons with the Eagles.

Looking ahead, Gasseau remains steadfast in his development, slated to return for his junior season at Boston College in 2024-25. With his blend of offensive prowess, defensive acumen, and a proven track record of performance, Andre Gasseau continues to chart a promising trajectory in hockey, poised to make further strides both at the collegiate level and potentially in the NHL.
