Breaking: Dallas Mavericks Interested In Drafting High-Star In The Upcoming NBA Draft

Dallas Mavericks interested in drafting Bronny James

In the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft, a standout prospect who has been catching attention is Bronny James from USC, despite being projected for the second round. While he has been closely associated with teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, reports indicate that the Dallas Mavericks have also shown keen interest in him.

According to sources, the Mavericks are considering selecting Bronny James with the 58th overall pick in the draft. However, it is deemed unlikely that he will still be available by their turn, with expectations hinting that he will be chosen earlier in the second round before Dallas gets to make their pick.

As the Dallas Mavericks are currently engaged in their season, they managed to secure a crucial Game 4 victory against the Boston Celtics, extending their hopes for the NBA Finals. A loss in the upcoming games could mean the end of their season, prompting them to focus on bolstering their roster in the offseason to strive for their first championship since 2011.

If the Mavericks were to draft James in the second round, it would be at the last spot, No. 58 overall, as they only hold that selection this year, having traded their first-rounder to the New York Knicks in a deal involving Kristaps Porzingis back in 2019. The second round of the NBA Draft is scheduled for June 27, following the announcement of the first 30 picks the day before.

Bronny James, known for his time at Sierra Canyon High School in California as a promising four-star prospect, faced setbacks during the 2023-24 season after experiencing cardiac arrest during a summer workout. Despite this, he showcased his potential, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 games played.

Apart from his skills as a prospect, the allure of potentially having his father, LeBron James, play alongside him could be a compelling factor for teams. LeBron James has expressed interest in reuniting with Kyrie Irving and admires players like Luka Doncic, adding a layer of intrigue to the scenario.

James has not been included in James Fletcher’s 2024 NBA Mock Draft 4.0, raising questions about his draft position and future in the league.
