First ESPN 300 recruit to pledge to the team for the 2025 season.

Kansas State received a significant commitment from local standout Linkon Cure, a four-star tight end ranked No. 64 in the 2025 ESPN 300, who announced his decision to join the Wildcats on Monday. This commitment marks Cure as Kansas State’s first ESPN 300 recruit of the 2025 class, positioning him as a key building block for the upcoming recruiting cohort. According to ESPN’s ratings, Cure is the highest-rated Kansas State commit since quarterback Jake Rubley, who was ranked No. 28 in the 2021 ESPN 300. Additionally, Cure ranks as the program’s second highest-rated recruit since Chris Klieman assumed the head coaching position in 2019.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 210 pounds, Cure currently attends Goodland High School in Kansas. Regarded as the second best tight end H-back in the 2025 class and the second top prospect in Kansas for this recruiting cycle, Cure opted for Kansas State over offers from Oregon, Texas A&M, and Kansas after conducting official visits to all four campuses earlier in the spring. Despite receiving offers from top programs like Alabama, Texas, and USC, Cure ultimately chose to commit to the Wildcats.

During the spring, Cure embarked on a series of visits, starting with a trip to Kansas followed by visits to Texas A&M and Oregon. However, it was Kansas State that captured Cure’s attention during his final visit late last month, leading to his decision to attend the university located just 300 miles away from his hometown.

Leyton Cure’s younger brother, who excels as a jumbo wide receiver at Goodland High School, has honed his skills as a precise route runner and adept pass-catcher over his initial three years of high school. Despite a hamstring injury that sidelined him for four games during his sophomore season in 2022, the younger Cure bounced back the following year, recording 42 receptions for 946 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior.

Apart from football, Cure is also a versatile athlete, having achieved success as a three-time state champion hurdler and contributing to Goodland’s appearance in the Kansas 3A state basketball championship earlier in the year.

The commitment of Cure signifies Kansas State’s third acquisition of a four-star recruit since the beginning of June. Adonis Moise from Bradenton, Florida, committed to the Wildcats on June 11, and Brock Heath, a highly-ranked offensive guard from Kansas, pledged his commitment the week prior.
