Jaelen Waters commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators secured their first commitment for the Class of 2026 over the weekend, as a local defensive back decided to pledge his future to the Gators.

Jaelen Waters, a promising 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back from Seffner, FL, who attends Armwood High School, made his commitment to Florida, switching sides from the Florida State Seminoles just days after his departure from their class.

In a Twitter announcement, Waters expressed his excitement, stating, “Great to be a Florida Gator.”

Initially, Waters had committed to Florida State on April 23rd, choosing the Noles over offers from Florida, Notre Dame, and Texas. However, the Gators’ persistence paid off as defensive backs coach Will Harris vigorously recruited Waters, ultimately convincing him to visit the campus, leading to a successful flip in commitments.
