According to Joe Tipton of On3, Isiah Harwell, a highly-rated shooting guard from Pocatello (ID) Wasatch Academy, is set to make his commitment on September 12. This five-star recruit from the 2025 class, ranked as the No. 2 shooting guard in the nation by 247Sports Composite, has narrowed his list down to four finalists: Gonzaga Bulldogs, Cal Golden Bears, Houston Cougars, and Texas.

Despite not having visited Austin since receiving an offer from Texas a few years ago, Harwell is drawn to head coach Rodney Terry’s fast-paced offensive style and the focus on high-level guard play on the perimeter. He’s been paying attention to the recruitment of five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson to Texas and is intrigued by the opportunity to play in this system under Terry.
“I like how the guards play there and how the coach gives them freedom. The coaching staff is great and really easygoing. It’s Texas, they always give their best and compete hard. The atmosphere is positive. They have a history of producing excellent guards, and commitments from talented guards like Tre Johnson make them stand out.”

Harwell on Texas in his top 4
As a 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard at Wasatch Academy in Utah, Harwell has been a significant recruiting target for Terry and his team for the 2025 cycle for several years. Texas has maintained consistent communication with Harwell, fostering a strong relationship over the past couple of years.
Before making his decision in mid-September, Harwell has one official visit scheduled. He will be taking an official visit to Cal at the end of June (specifically from June 25-26). Harwell has already made unofficial visits to Houston in March and an official visit to Gonzaga in late February 2024.
