Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball has made its first move of the transfer portal cycle, securing a significant addition with a commitment from former Georgia Bulldogs women’s basketball guard Dani Carnegie.
Carnegie is coming off an impressive season, earning first-team All-SEC honors after averaging 17.8 points per game while shooting 42.7% from the field, 35.4% from three-point range, and 83.3% from the free-throw line. Prior to Georgia, she began her collegiate career at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s basketball, where she played alongside current Iowa guard Chit-Chat Wright and under now-Iowa assistant coach LaSondra Barrett.
During her freshman year with the Yellow Jackets, Carnegie was named ACC Sixth Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team, averaging 12.9 points per game.
Adding Carnegie is a significant transfer portal victory for Jan Jensen and her staff. She brings Iowa a dynamic backcourt option who can generate her own offense off the dribble and score effectively at all three levels.

Carnegie joins a backcourt group that already includes Chit-Chat Wright, Taylor Stremlow, and Journey Houston for the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball.
The Hawkeyes are also expected to host visits from former Oklahoma State Cowgirls basketball guard Amari Whiting and former Western Illinois Leathernecks women’s basketball guard Raegan McCowan as the transfer portal process continues.
