BREAKING: Massive Boost As Utah Lands Key 4-Star LB Commitment

BREAKING: Four-star LB Christian Thatcher has committed to Utah

The University of Utah’s football team, led by Kyle Whittingham, secured their fifth commitment of the week and their eighth commitment for the 2025 class, with the announcement of Las Vegas (NV) Arbor View four-star linebacker Christian Thatcher’s commitment.

Thatcher visited Salt Lake City for an official visit with the program, and despite facing competition from other schools like USC, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, and Washington, the Utes were able to convince him to join their team. After his visit to Utah, Thatcher cancelled his planned official visits to Kansas and Washington, solidifying his commitment to the Utes. He shared the news of his commitment on Instagram.

Based on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Thatcher is positioned as the 315th best player overall and the 35th best linebacker in the nation, with an impressive .9013 Composite Rating. Similarly, according to 247Sports’ own rating and ranking system, he holds a four-star rating of 90 and is recognized as the 29th best linebacker in the 2025 class.

Thatcher possesses the ideal combination of size and athleticism that promises great success at the next level. His lean frame and good length suggest that he can handle additional muscle mass, making him well-suited for the linebacker position. He embodies the archetype of a second level linebacker, showcasing the ability to defend from sideline to sideline, attack the line of scrimmage, and make impactful plays both in coverage and on the ball. With his commitment, Thatcher becomes the eighth recruit to join the class, the fifth on the defensive side of the team.

He joins the ranks of quarterbacks Wyatt Becker and Shaker Reisig, tight end Drew Clemens, defensive end Nela Tupou and Max Fonoimoana, as well as defensive linemen Karson Kaufusi and Sione Motuapuaka. This influx of talent has put Utah’s recruiting efforts on a fast track, establishing a strong momentum for the team.
