Breaking News: Massive News As Shockers Bolster Women’s Basketball Staff With Three New Addition

WICHITA – Wichita State women’s basketball head coach Terry Nooner announced the hiring of strength and conditioning coach Jasmine Morris, along with graduate assistants Shomari Harris and Mandy Willems, on Friday morning.

“I’m thrilled to welcome these three exceptional individuals to our Wichita State coaching staff,” Nooner said. “Each brings unique skills and experiences that will enhance our program. We are excited to have Jasmine, Mandy, and Shomari join our Shocker family, and I believe their contributions will be immediate as we work towards success.”

Jasmine Morris joins the Shockers after two years at Florida Atlantic, where she developed sport-specific training programs and provided dietary guidance for the women’s basketball, volleyball, women’s soccer, and men’s tennis teams. Before her time at Florida Atlantic, Morris worked at Morehead State, Florida International, the Barwis Performance Center, and GameFace Training. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2021 with a degree in exercise and sports science and was a member of the Sharks’ rowing team.

“Jasmine comes highly recommended from Florida Atlantic,” Nooner said. “She has a strong passion for developing young athletes and helping them achieve their full potential. Her commitment to their growth, both on and off the court, aligns perfectly with our program’s mission.”

Graduate assistant Shomari Harris arrives at Wichita State after serving as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at Kilgore College in Texas. Before coaching, she played professionally in El Salvador, Greece, and Iran from 2018 to 2022. Harris played college basketball at Texas A&M Commerce before transferring to Cal State East Bay, where she set a record for the most three-point field goals made in a single game (7).

“Shomari has already built an impressive coaching career and has professional playing experience, which will be crucial in guiding our players toward their aspirations of playing beyond WSU,” Nooner said. “Her journey as a self-made player and her global basketball exposure will be invaluable to our team’s success.”

Graduate assistant Mandy Willems graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2022, where she played basketball under current Wichita State assistant coach Patrick Harrison and set a record for the most three-point field goals made in a half (7) in 2021. Last year, she served as a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at Johnson County Community College.

“Mandy, a former First Team JuCo All-American and one of the best shooters in the country, brings an infectious energy and passion for the game,” Nooner said. “Her championship mentality will make a strong impact from the moment she arrives, and we’re excited to harness her competitive spirit.”
