Six Wildcats to Be Inducted into LAASHOF

This weekend, the Lexington African-American Sports Hall of Fame (LAASHOF) will welcome its 2024 inductees, featuring six former Kentucky Wildcats who excelled in various sports during their time at UK Athletics.

The inductees with connections to UK Athletics are Sherry Ballew Agee, C.B. Akins, Tracye Davis, Winston Guy, Michelle Williams Johnson, and Littleton Ward. Below are brief profiles of each honoree.

Guy and Ward both earned letters in Kentucky football, while Davis was a standout in women’s basketball. Ballew Agee and Williams Johnson excelled in track, and Akins has made significant contributions in an administrative capacity at the University of Kentucky.

Sherry Ballew Agee
An athletic pioneer in the 1970s, Sherry Ballew Agee shone at Bryan Station High School before attending Tennessee State University. She returned to the University of Kentucky in 1976, participating in track and field, and graduated in 1978 with a degree in health and physical education.

C.B. Akins
C.B. Akins has been a vital figure in the Lexington community for decades. He graduated with honors in social work from UK in 1993 and was appointed to the UK Board of Trustees by Governor Steve Beshear in 2011. He played a key role in approving Kentucky Proud Park and served as a staff advisor for the UK football team.

Tracye Davis
A standout for the Kentucky women’s basketball team under coach Sharon Fanning, Tracye Davis was instrumental in leading the Wildcats back to the NCAA Tournament in 1991 after a long absence. She excelled as a perimeter player, finishing her career ranked fifth in assists and sixth in steals in program history. Her standout game came against Ole Miss, where she scored 29 points with a perfect performance at the free-throw line.

Winston Guy
Winston Guy enjoyed a successful four-year career at UK before being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He recorded 297 tackles, five interceptions, and nine pass breakups, while also contributing to three bowl appearances. Guy earned All-SEC honors during his junior and senior years.

Michelle Williams Johnson
A standout track athlete from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Michelle Williams Johnson continued her success at UK under coach Edrick Floreal. She set the 55m hurdle record and excelled in the 200-meter and 100-meter hurdles, particularly at the 2001 Cardinal Open.

Littleton Ward
Littleton Ward played 40 games for Kentucky, racking up 124 tackles and 12 pass breakups. He came to UK from Bryan Station High School in 1993 and earned the Most Valuable Defensive Scout Team Award during his redshirt freshman season. After contributing primarily on special teams in 1994, he became a key player on defense in 1995 and a starter in 1996.
