To replace the UConn game, Ohio State has added a home game against the Grambling State Tigers on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Grambling State University, a member of the FCS’s Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) located in Grambling, Louisiana, eagerly accepted the opportunity to play on a big stage against the Buckeyes.
Dr. Travyean D. Scott, Grambling State’s Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, expressed excitement about showcasing their brand to a national audience and providing their players and fans with an opportunity to experience a matchup between two renowned football programs.
The reason for the cancellation of the Ohio State-UConn game is unclear, but Grambling State is enthusiastic about the new opportunity. The Ohio State football schedule for 2025 includes a home opener against the Texas Longhorns on August 30, a matchup against the Ohio Bobcats on September 13, and a set of Big Ten conference games, including home fixtures against Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers, and UCLA, and away games against Illinois, Michigan, Purdue, Washington, and Wisconsin.
