Jared Thomas, a sophomore first baseman, has been ranked as the 58th best prospect in the 2024 draft class by MLB.com. Thomas had an impressive season for the Longhorns, batting .349 with 87 hits and 61 runs scored, both team highs. His performance earned him All-Big 12 and All-Region First Team selections.
Jalin Flores: Shortstop with Power and Poise
Sophomore shortstop Jalin Flores is another Texas standout expected to be selected early in the draft. Ranked 115th by MLB.com, Flores led the team with 22 doubles and 18 home runs, tying for the team lead. He was also named a Dick Howser Trophy Semi-Finalist, awarded to the nation’s premier collegiate baseball player.
Lebarron Johnson Jr.: A Dominant Pitcher with Upside
Despite an inconsistent season, redshirt junior pitcher Lebarron Johnson Jr. remains an intriguing prospect for the 2024 draft. Johnson was named the Big 12 Preseason Pitcher of the Year and was nominated for the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List. He finished the season with 84 strikeouts, including 10 against Washington and 8 against Texas A&M.
