The initial of two recruiting live periods in July commences on Thursday. It is likely that Nate Ament, a highly sought-after target by the University of North Carolina basketball program as of late and who plays for Highland Prep (Va.), will take notice of the consistent presence of the UNC basketball coaching staff at the courtside throughout this week.

Ament is a standout player for Team Loaded VA in the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. His ranking has ascended by five spots since the spring, currently placing him at No. 13 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite list. Furthermore, he has garnered offers from esteemed basketball programs, including one from UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis in May.

Based on his performance in the opening game of this week’s 3SSB Palmetto Road Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., the 6-foot-9, 185-pound five-star prospect seems poised for further advancement in the rankings. After Nate Ament’s standout performance, HS Top Recruits stated that the Tar Heels are among the five schools currently showing the most intense interest in recruiting him, alongside UConn, Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas State.

Although Ament has not finalized dates for any official visits during his senior year, he mentioned intentions to visit Indiana and Virginia in the near future.

UNC’s recruiting efforts for 2025 currently focus on 16 undecided prospects, and the team has yet to secure any commitments.
