Buckeye Blitz: Ohio State Football Welcomes Elite Recruits After Hot Start!

Ohio State continues to shine on the field and in the recruiting game, with recent wins and a focus on securing top talent for the future.

Ohio State is on a roll, boasting a perfect 4-0 record after a commanding 38-7 victory over Michigan State in East Lansing. Now, the Buckeyes are preparing to host Iowa this weekend.

While excitement surrounds the current team, Ohio State is also making significant strides in recruiting. Head coach Ryan Day and his staff are tireless on the recruiting trail, keeping the Buckeyes in the spotlight.

Recently, they learned they would soon host some important 2026 recruits. One notable prospect is Zavion Griffin-Haynes, a four-star edge rusher from Rolesville, North Carolina. Ohio State has been interested in him since the summer and extended an official offer following his unofficial visit in August. Although Griffin-Haynes caught many off guard by committing to North Carolina earlier this month, Ohio State is still pursuing him. He has upcoming visits planned to Georgia, Florida State, and Chapel Hill, but the Buckeyes are also hoping to host him on November 23 when they take on Indiana.

Griffin-Haynes is ranked as the No. 11 edge rusher in the 247Sports Composite and sits at No. 114 overall, marking him as one of North Carolina’s top prospects.

In addition to hosting Griffin-Haynes later on, Ohio State will welcome another recruit this weekend during the game against Iowa. Kaden Gebhardt, a three-star safety from Lewis Center, Ohio, is set to visit.

Gebhardt’s recruitment has surged this summer, with offers from several programs, including Ohio State and Penn State. This will be his third visit to OSU in a short span, and a successful trip could put the Buckeyes in the lead for his commitment.

Currently, Gebhardt is ranked as the No. 41 safety in the 247Sports Composite, but with updates on the horizon, his ranking is expected to rise.
