David Pollack Gives His Bold Honest Opinion of Arch Manning Replacing Quinn Ewers vs. Georgia

The Week 8 clash between the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs was one of the season’s most eagerly awaited games. The Bulldogs started strong, establishing a 20-0 advantage with just under five minutes left in the second quarter. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian made headlines by benching Quinn Ewers, his three-year starting quarterback and Heisman hopeful. Instead, Sarkisian brought in Arch Manning, the top recruit from the 2023 class. Manning played two drives, completing 3 of 6 passes for 19 yards. The Longhorns punted on his first drive, and during his second, he was strip-sacked. Georgia recovered the fumble and kicked a field goal right before halftime, increasing their lead to 23-0.

Former ESPN “College GameDay” analyst David Pollack expressed on his YouTube channel, “David Pollack College Football,” that he understands Texas’s decision to switch quarterbacks. However, he was puzzled by the choice to start Ewers in the second half. “I could see why you’d turn to Arch because he has more mobility,” Pollack noted. “It gives you an edge in the run game, which is crucial since they struggled to run the ball. What’s odd moving forward is that I expected Arch to play in the second half, but they returned to Quinn Ewers.” After the game, Sarkisian stated that Ewers remains the starting quarterback, mentioning that Ewers seemed “a little uneasy” and needed a moment to regroup. It looks like Ewers will continue to lead the team for the rest of the season.
