Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball Loading Up on Elite 2027 Targets
Few programs have matched Duke’s success in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Under head coach Jon Scheyer, the Blue Devils have landed four top-100 prospects — including three five-stars — giving them the nation’s No. 1-ranked class.
With 2026 largely wrapped up, Scheyer and his staff have turned their attention to 2027. While Duke has yet to extend an offer in the class, the program is already tracking several elite prospects and positioning itself early with some of the best players in the country.
Here’s a closer look at two of the Blue Devils’ top 2027 priorities:
1) C.J. Rosser | Power Forward
Five-star forward C.J. Rosser, originally from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and now playing at Southeastern Prep in Orlando, is widely regarded as the top prospect in the 2027 class. According to Rivals Industry Rankings, Rosser sits at No. 1 nationally, No. 1 at power forward, and No. 1 in Florida.
Although Duke hasn’t officially offered, Rosser has indicated that Scheyer and the staff have maintained consistent communication and discussed how he would fit within the program.
Given his No. 1 overall status, Rosser’s recruitment is expected to be highly competitive. Still, Duke’s history of landing elite frontcourt talent should make the Blue Devils a major factor as his process unfolds.
2) Beckham Black | Point Guard
Five-star point guard Beckham Black, a Duncanville, Texas native who also suits up for Southeastern Prep, is another premier 2027 name on Duke’s radar. Rivals ranks him No. 8 overall in the class, the No. 2 point guard, and the No. 4 prospect in Florida.
Like Rosser, Black has not yet received a Duke offer, but the coaching staff has shown sustained interest. He has spoken about building a strong relationship with the Blue Devils and noted that staff members have attended his games.
Black already boasts more than 20 Division I offers, setting the stage for a fierce recruiting battle. However, if Duke continues cultivating its relationship and makes the right impression in the coming months, it could firmly establish itself in the race for one of the nation’s top floor generals.
It’s still early in the 2027 cycle, but Duke’s target board already features some of the biggest names in high school basketball — a sign that the Blue Devils aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
