ECU Bolsters DL Class And 6-foot-6, 240-Pounder In State Offensive, Key Commitments And Top Recruit Team

The Pirates add a commitment from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb 2025 defensive lineman Dominick Moody.

East Carolina has further strengthened its 2025 defensive line group by adding Dominick Moody from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb High School. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect recently announced his commitment, making him the third player to commit to ECU’s defensive front over the weekend.

Moody, a fellow Georgian, visited last week before choosing East Carolina over multiple FBS offers from schools such as App State, Arkansas State, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, Connecticut, FAU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Liberty, Maryland, Massachusetts, Temple, Toledo, Western Kentucky, and Western Michigan. This commitment follows the recent commitments of Amari Wilson from Colquitt County High School and Zion Cooley from Carrollton High School, both also hailing from Georgia, after their official visits over the weekend.

East Carolina reached out to Moody on December 4, 2023, through area recruiter Blake Harrell and director of recruiting Scott Gasper. Subsequently, he has been recruited by defensive tackles coach Roy Tesh and defensive ends coach Rico Zackery. Standing at 6-4 and weighing 260 pounds, Moody is likely to be positioned as a defensive tackle in ECU’s system, with potential to gain more weight. However, he might also see some playtime as a defensive end.

Additionally, Moody participates in high school wrestling for North Cobb in the 285-pound weight class, and he has received all-region honors during both his sophomore and junior seasons at the 7A-Region 5 level. North Cobb closed the season with a 7-4 overall record, including a 4-1 standing in the Region.

As of now, ECU has secured 10 confirmed public commitments for the 2025 class, with Moody, Wilson, and Cooley expected to join as defensive linemen. Durante Speer, a three-star safety from Columbia High School, is the fourth commitment from Georgia. ECU has also gained commitments from three-star running back Eddie Love Jr. from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, as well as Kentucky prospect Connor Hodge, a three-star wide receiver from Christian Academy of Louisville. Quarterback Chaston Ditta from Lake Travis High School is the sole pledge from Texas.

Moreover, the Pirates have gained commitments from in-state players including three-star lineman Jonathan Stokes from Randleman High School, three-star receiver Johnny Williams from Havelock, and athlete/linebacker Kendric Davis from Charlotte (N.C.) Palisades High School.

In-state TE Kaleb Morrow commits to East Carolina

East Carolina University has successfully secured a commitment from Kaleb Morrow, a highly sought-after tight end from Apex (N.C.) High School, for their 2025 recruiting class. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 240 pounds, Morrow chose the Pirates after concluding his official visit to the campus. Despite receiving offers from other schools such as App State, Charlotte, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, and Temple, Morrow ultimately decided to commit to East Carolina. His interest in the Pirates peaked following a visit in January and a subsequent offer from tight ends coach Hunter MacKay in mid-February. Morrow solidified his commitment during an official visit over the weekend and made the announcement on Sunday.

Tomorrow, who doubles as a defensive end for Apex, will be transitioning to play as a tight end. He made 30 receptions for 382 yards across 11 games in 2023, with an average of 12.7 yards per catch and two touchdowns. On the defensive end, Morrow accumulated 15 tackles in the previous season, including four tackles for loss. Additionally, during his sophomore year, he secured eight receptions for 85 yards and scored four touchdowns.

Morrow’s commitment signifies the 11th verbal commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He hails from North Carolina, the same state as Kendric Davis (Palisades), Jonathan Stokes (Randleman), and Johnny Williams (Havelock), who are part of the recruiting class. East Carolina University (ECU) has also secured commitments from players from Georgia, including Amari Wilson from Colquitt County, Zion Cooley from Carrollton, Durante Speer from Columbia, and Dominick Moody from North Cobb. Furthermore, ECU’s recruiting class includes one player from Florida, one from Kentucky, and one from Texas.

Currently, ECU’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked 73rd nationwide and second in The American conference.
