Ex-Alabama All-American Achieves NFL Milestone With 1,000 Rushing Yards Once More.

Derrick Henry has reached 1,000 rushing yards for the sixth time in his NFL career, achieving this milestone in just nine games during the 2024 season after playing at Alabama.

Henry reached the milestone of 1,000 rushing yards for the 2024 season during Sunday’s game by running for 20 yards from the Denver Broncos’ 37-yard line on a second-and-11 play in the third quarter with 11:21 remaining.

That brought Henry’s total yards for the Baltimore Ravens in 2024 to 1,010 on 158 carries, with 64 yards gained from 13 carries on Sunday.

Henry is the initial NFL player to achieve 1,000 rushing yards in the current season.

Henry ran for 1,000 yards in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023 as well. In the year 2020, Henry achieved the eighth 2,000-yard rushing season ever in NFL history.

During the 2021 season, Henry gained 937 rushing yards in the first eight games but couldn’t play in the remaining nine games due to a broken foot.

Henry’s most recent game makes the total count of 1,000-yard rushing seasons for NFL players from Alabama high schools and colleges reach 47. There have been sixteen players from Alabama football backgrounds who have rushed for 1,000 yards in a single NFL season, and Henry currently holds the record with one more than Shaun Alexander.
