Ex-Alabama football player’s family accuses hospital of ‘trying to kill’ him in organ harvesting scheme
The family of former Alabama football player Terrance Howard has accused the hospital that treated him for brain damage of “attempting to kill him” for organ harvesting after he was hit by a car on I-85 in North Carolina in July.
Howard’s parents shared multiple videos on social media, claiming that Atrium Health, the facility that treated him, engaged in malpractice and organ harvesting.
His father, Bishop Anthony Allen, alleged that the hospital “administered something in Terrance’s IV to harm him” in order to block a transfer to another hospital.
In a video, Howard’s mother stated, “They told me they were interested in my son’s organs. They are trying to harm him because they want to take his organs.”
Pastor Allen has not yet replied to an email from The Post asking for additional comments from him or a family attorney.
Atrium has refuted these allegations in a statement to News One, a social justice publication.
“As you know, federal privacy laws are stringent and prevent us from discussing specific inquiries. However, we can confidently state that our medical professionals rank among the best in the country and consistently take all necessary steps to safeguard the life and health of our patients,” the hospital stated.
“We offer our heartfelt condolences to all patients and their families during their difficult times. We prioritize providing truthful evaluations of each patient’s health when discussing matters with family members, assisting them in understanding and considering suitable care options for their loved ones.”
Last season, Howard was a walk-on at Alabama, but he chose to transfer to HBCU North Carolina Central University in May. While en route to NCCU, he was involved in a minor car accident.
His family informed Houston NBC affiliate KPRC that he ensured everyone in the other car was safe before being hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Howard sustained brain injuries and was put on life support, but sadly passed away on August 1, as reported by North Carolina Central University.
Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban was one of many who reached out to offer prayers and support, according to Howard’s family speaking to KHOU.

Alabama’s new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, honored Howard during the team’s press conference on Sunday.
“I want to extend my thoughts and prayers,” DeBoer shared with reporters. “Terrance Howard, who was with us before transferring to North Carolina Central, has sadly passed away. There are players on this team who were close to him and are also keeping him in their thoughts. I just want to send prayers and heartfelt condolences to his family.”
North Carolina Central University issued a statement paying tribute to Howard.
“Originally from Texas City, Texas, Terrance was eager to advance his college football journey with the Eagles and form strong bonds with his new teammates. His enthusiasm, vibrant personality, and contagious laughter made him someone everyone wanted to be around,” the school noted. “Terrance was a committed teammate, always ready to support and inspire his fellow Eagles to give their best.
“He was also a passionate reader and enjoyed country music, often singing to his teammates on the field and during workouts. His ‘silly songs’ brought joy and helped strengthen friendships among his peers.”
