Ex-Tiger Deshaun Watson Sidelined By Injury For Two Straight Seasons.

Deshaun Watson, ex-Clemson QB, will not play in the 2024 season. According to CBS, Watson’s MRI results on Monday revealed a torn ACL. For the second consecutive season, the nine-year veteran’s year was again ended early because of injury.

The injury occurred during the second quarter of the Browns’ defeat against Cincinnati. Watson retreated to take the snap for a quarterback draw play. However, as soon as he started running, he dropped to the ground holding onto his right leg. His year also came to a close in 2023, this time due to a broken arm. During his time in Cleaveland, Watson has only managed to play a maximum of seven games each season due to injuries or suspensions.

Head coach Dabo Swinney contacted his ex-quarterback, providing Watson with words of encouragement. “I definitely contacted him and simply tried to motivate and support him,” Swinney mentioned during a Zoom call with the press. “And simply offering prayers for him.”

Swinney recently discussed Watson’s recent challenges but is optimistic that Brown’s quarterback will bounce back. Swinney expressed that it was challenging because he had only just begun to regain his rhythm. “However, obstacles arise.” You cannot allow them to bring you down. You must recover from this setback, and I am confident that he will.

He’s still in his youth. He still has plenty of football ahead of him. Swinney pointed out, “Just consider Aaron Rodgers, who is around 40 years old and recovering from a torn Achilles.”

As per the CBS report, Watson may return to the quarterback position by the first week of 2025. Yet, whether he comes back hinges on the outcome of his medical procedure and rehabilitation.

The Tigers will be playing at their home stadium this week. Clemson will face Virginia following a significant victory on the road over Wake Forest.

Quarterback Anthony Colandrea has guided the Cavaliers to a 4-2 record, their strongest start since 2021. Nevertheless, they have not yet encountered a team similar to Clemson. The Tigers had a rough start against Georgia, but now they are determined to reach the ACC championship. This is how you can view/listen to today’s game:
