Sources say Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is being tested to determine the best course of action for the broken finger on his throwing hand, which he injured during the game against SMU. He is anticipated to be out for the next few weeks, but a definitive timeline will be provided after further evaluation.

Uiagalelei, who transferred to Florida State this offseason to become the team’s starting quarterback, will be sidelined for at least the next few weeks due to a thumb injury. So far this season, he has completed 84 of 156 passes for 1,065 yards, with four touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed 37 times for -8 yards and no touchdowns. His quarterback rating stands at 112.6, the lowest he’s recorded since his second year at Clemson, where he had nine touchdowns and ten interceptions over 13 games.

The 2024 Florida State football team currently holds a 1-4 record with Uiagalelei as the starter. The Seminoles began the season with a narrow loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland, and followed that with a home defeat against the Boston College Eagles. They lost again in Week 2 to the Memphis Tigers but managed to secure a win against the California Golden Bears in mid-September. However, their recent 42-16 loss to the SMU Mustangs marked the fourth time this season they have failed to score more than 20 points.
