“Game Changers: South Carolina Football Stars Earn First-Round NFL Draft Grades!”

South Carolina football boasts a solid 3-1 record in the 2024 season, with the standout unit being the defense. Under Shane Beamer’s leadership, the Gamecocks have made significant strides on that side of the ball, showcasing strong performances at each level as they approach the toughest part of their schedule.

Recently, two key players from the Gamecock defense have garnered attention for their promising NFL Draft prospects.

Defensive lineman TJ Sanders has caught the eye of several analysts, receiving multiple first-round projections from CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso. In his latest mock draft, Trapasso has Sanders going 22nd overall to the Dallas Cowboys, while Walter Football projects him at 23rd to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Meanwhile, defensive back Nick Emmanwori has also seen a boost in his draft stock. CBS Sports’ Mike Renner predicts the Gamecock safety will be selected 26th by the Buffalo Bills.

This season, Sanders has recorded 12 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 tackle for loss, despite missing some time with a foot injury; he appears to be recovering well. After leading the team in sacks last year from various positions, he has predominantly played as a defensive tackle in 2024.

Emmanwori has been a standout performer this fall, wearing the newly assigned #7, and leading the Gamecocks in both tackles and interceptions. Despite having one pick-six against LSU called back by a controversial penalty, he has tallied 2 interceptions, including a touchdown return, during the Gamecocks’ strong start.

TJ Sanders, Nick Emmanwori, and the rest of the South Carolina football squad will be back in action on October 5th against the Ole Miss Rebels at Williams-Brice Stadium.
