UD Arena Game Broadcasts Announced: Two Matchups to Air on Channel 7

The University of Dayton announced that two of its basketball games—November 9 against Northwestern and December 7 against Lehigh—will be broadcast on Channel 7 and also available on ESPN+.

“The long-standing partnership between WHIO-TV and Dayton Flyers basketball has lasted for decades and has been a fundamental part of our local sports scene,” said Neil Sullivan, Dayton’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, in a press release. “As our businesses have evolved, we’ve maintained our commitment to the community, and our shared passion for basketball remains central to this partnership. We’re thrilled to bring the excitement of the game back to fans across the region on WHIO-TV.”

According to UD, WHIO first aired Dayton basketball games in the 1951-52 season, with the last game broadcast on March 8, 2014, when Dayton faced Richmond at UD Arena—one of three home games that year.

On the radio side, WHIO-AM (1290) has been covering UD games since 1952, with Larry Hansgen returning this season for his 42nd year as the voice of the Flyers.

Dayton recently lost 98-74 to Xavier in an exhibition game and will play Ashland at 6 p.m. Saturday at UD Arena for its second and final exhibition. The regular season kicks off at 7 p.m. on November 4 against St. Francis University (Pa.).
