Gridiron Secrets Unveiled: Ex-Wisconsin Badger and Atlanta Falcon Hosts Intense Football Camp

Former Wisconsin Badgers and Atlanta Falcons starting center, Peter Konz, is gearing up to impart his wealth of football knowledge to local players in an upcoming football camp. Scheduled from July 8th to July 11th at Cross Park in Roscoe, Konz aims to prepare the next generation of football athletes for their upcoming seasons.

Konz boasts an impressive football background, having served as Wisconsin’s starting center from 2009 to 2011, playing alongside future NFL luminaries like Russell Wilson and J.J. Watt. His collegiate career culminated in a notable appearance in the Rose Bowl. Following his college success, Konz was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent three and a half seasons as a key part of their offensive line.

The inspiration behind Konz’s decision to organize this football camp stems from his personal life. “What spurred this latest football adventure for me is I have a nine-year-old,” Konz shared. “When he reached the age to start tackle football, I wanted to ensure he was introduced to the sport properly, rather than being thrown into the deep end. My wife thought it would be a great idea for me to give back to the community and get involved, so I volunteered for his football team last year.”

Initially uncertain about his transition into coaching, Konz quickly found fulfillment in this new role. “I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it,” he admitted. “But once we started focusing on speed, agility, and now with this upcoming camp being more football-specific, I’ve really embraced it. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with kids, providing hands-on guidance and coaching them through various techniques. I truly hope this camp becomes a fixture in the community for years to come.”

In addition to coaching, Konz plans to offer scholarships to families in need, ensuring that all aspiring players have the opportunity to participate in the camp. His dedication to fostering talent and giving back to the community underscores his commitment to enriching young athletes’ lives through football.
