GRONOWSKI SELECTED AS FINALIST FOR CAMPBELL TROPHY.

On Wednesday, SDSU quarterback Mark Gronowski was announced as one of the 16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, given each year to the best scholar-athlete in college football.

Every finalist in the 2024 National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments will be awarded an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The recipient of the Campbell Trophy, awarded a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship, will be revealed on Dec. 10 at the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Gronowski has served as a starting player for four years and held the role of team captain three times for the Jackrabbits. Under his leadership, the team achieved a total record of 42-5 and won consecutive FCS national championships. In the previous season, he received the 2023 Walter Payton Award and was also named the Offensive Player of the Year by the FCS Athletics Directors Association for leading the subdivision in passing efficiency with a rating of 179.6. Throughout Gronowski’s career, he has accumulated 8,811 passing yards and 81 touchdowns, as well as 1,599 rushing yards and 30 scores.

While in school, Gronowski achieved a 3.76 GPA and earned a degree in mechanical engineering during the spring graduation. He is currently working towards a master’s degree in engineering management and was named the 2023 FCS ADA Scholar-Athlete of the Year while also being chosen for the second-team of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Team.

Gronowski is the fifth Jackrabbit football player to be named a Campbell Trophy finalist, following Ryan Berry (2008), Zach Zenner (2014), Jake Wieneke (2017), and Taryn Christion (2018).
