Hometown Hero Antwaun Powell-Ryland Dominates with Four Sacks in Virginia Tech’s Triumph Over ODU!

NORFOLK, Va. (WCYB) — Virginia Tech Football finally secured a long-awaited victory in Norfolk on Saturday, defeating Old Dominion 37-17.

For one Hokie, this game was a special homecoming.

Redshirt senior Antwaun Powell-Ryland achieved his second career game with four sacks, becoming just the second Hokie to accomplish this feat twice, joining “The Sack Man” Bruce Smith in the record books.

In addition to his four sacks, Powell-Ryland forced and recovered a fumble in the third quarter and led the team with seven tackles, six of which were solo efforts.

“That’s the second time he’s had four sacks in a game, and only he and Bruce Smith have done that—Bruce was here tonight, so it’s an incredible accomplishment for APR,” said Virginia Tech Head Coach Brent Pry. “To do it at home with so many family and friends in attendance is really special. I’m very happy for him.”
