Houston set for six home games, three road games and Big Easy Classic, Huge Non-Conference Schedule

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women’s Basketball program and Head Coach Ronald Hughey have unveiled their non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season, featuring six home games at Fertitta Center, announced on Tuesday.

The Cougars will kick off their season at home on Tuesday, Nov. 5, against UTRGV, marking their sixth match against the Vaqueros. They will then head to Athens, Georgia, on Friday, Nov. 8, to compete against Georgia for the first time since 2003, and will face rival Rice at Tudor Fieldhouse on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Returning to Fertitta Center, Houston will take on Houston Christian on Sunday, Nov. 17, followed by Alcorn State on Thursday, Nov. 21, and concluding their November home games against North Texas on Sunday, Nov. 24.

During Thanksgiving break, the Cougars will participate in the Big Easy Classic in New Orleans, facing Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 29, and Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The team will then travel up I-45 to play UT Arlington on Wednesday, Dec. 4, before returning home for their final non-conference games against Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday, Dec. 8, and Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

BIG 12 SCHEDULE MATRIX
In June, Houston and the Big 12 Conference released the 2024-25 Conference Schedule Matrix. Opponents were chosen based on geography, historical results, and a coaches’ poll to create a balanced schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A complete Big 12 schedule will be shared at a later date.

Houston will have home-and-away games against Baylor, Texas Tech, and UCF, while hosting new members Arizona and Arizona State, along with Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia. Upcoming road games will include first-time trips to Colorado, Iowa State, and Utah, as well as matches against BYU, Cincinnati, and TCU. Specific dates and times for Big 12 games will be announced later.
