Huge Controversy Raised After UCLA WR Plays Despite Being Listed As Out on Pre-game Injury Report

UCLA wide receiver Titus Mokiao-Atimalala was officially ruled out before Saturday night’s game but managed to catch three passes for 24 yards against the Gophers.

Last season, the Big Ten established a rule mandating teams to provide an injury report two hours prior to kickoff. Although Mokiao-Atimalala was marked as out by the Bruins, he still participated in Saturday’s game.

UCLA violated Big Ten’s availability report policy by listing junior WR Titus Mokiao-Atimalala as “out” on pregame report but he still played vs. Minnesota. It’s unknown what penalty – if any – Big Ten may access against UCLA as this is under the league’s sportsmanship policy

If Mokiao-Atimalala were simply a special teams player, it might be less significant. However, he was the team’s fourth-leading receiver and played a crucial role in their offensive strategy. There’s no information about any confusion regarding his status as questionable or out prior to the game, but it appears they violated the rule.

Ultimately, it didn’t affect the Gophers, who managed to squeeze out a 21-17 victory over the Bruins, but it’s still an intriguing situation.
