Curt Cignetti Gets Boost as Indiana Target Raheem Floyd Takes Major Step in Recruitment
Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti received encouraging news as top recruit Raheem Floyd advanced his recruitment process by scheduling an official visit to Indiana. The move signals a more serious phase in his decision-making and gives the Hoosiers added momentum in their pursuit of the four-star cornerback.
Floyd recently stood out at the Under Armour Next Camp Series stop in St. Louis on March 22, held at Cardinal Ritter College Prep. The event featured elite high school talent from across the Midwest, and Floyd quickly emerged as one of its most impressive performers.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound junior from East St. Louis High School showcased his length, speed, and defensive instincts, delivering multiple strong reps in one-on-one drills. He’s coming off a standout season after helping lead the East St. Louis Flyers to a state championship, finishing with 76 tackles and five interceptions. Ranked among the top 25 cornerbacks by 247Sports, Floyd has also expressed strong interest in Indiana, praising the coaching staff and team culture.
He has officially set a visit to Indiana University for April 24–26, 2026. However, the Hoosiers face stiff competition from programs like Missouri, Wisconsin, and Nebraska, all of whom are actively recruiting him.
Securing Floyd would further validate Cignetti’s recruiting push following Indiana’s national title success, as the program looks to compete with traditional Midwest powers for elite talent. According to projections from On3, Indiana is currently in a strong position, with an 88.9% chance of landing his commitment. If successful, Floyd could become a foundational piece in what may turn into the highest-ranked recruiting class in school history.
A Breakout Recruiting Era for Indiana
Following a championship-winning 2025 season, Indiana football has shed its old reputation and is now attracting top-tier prospects who previously leaned toward powerhouse programs like Alabama and Ohio State.
The Hoosiers’ 2027 recruiting class is already ranked No. 24 nationally—a significant jump from their usual range between 40th and 70th. The class includes notable commits such as four-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert Jr., quarterback Jameson Purcell—who chose Indiana over Auburn and Miami—and safety Garyon Hobbs.
Historically, Indiana hasn’t been a recruiting powerhouse, with its 2022 class ranking 25th as one of its best recent finishes. Now, with early momentum and just a handful of commits, the 2027 group is already trending toward the top 20. Adding another elite prospect, such as a five-star recruit, could push the Hoosiers even higher—potentially into the top tier of national recruiting rankings.
