Marshall Football Hosts Western Michigan On Saturday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football is back at home for the first time in nearly a month, concluding its non-conference schedule with a game against Western Michigan on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+.

PRE-GAME NOTES
This Saturday’s matchup will celebrate Hall of Fame Weekend, honoring nine legends being inducted into the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame. Additionally, the 2014 Conference USA Championship team will be recognized, including offensive lineman Trevor Mendelson, who now serves as the offensive line coach for Western Michigan.
This game also commemorates the 25th anniversary of Marshall’s remarkable comeback in the 1999 Mid-American Conference Championship Game, where they overcame a 23-0 deficit to defeat the Broncos 34-30, thanks to Heisman candidate Chad Pennington’s game-winning pass to Eric Pinkerton. Marshall capped that season with a 13-0 record and a Motor City Bowl victory, finishing ranked No. 10 nationally.
ABOUT MARSHALL
Marshall heads into Saturday’s contest with a 1-2 record, following a tough 49-14 loss to No. 3 Ohio State in front of over 103,000 fans. Quarterback Stone Earle completed 16 of 21 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown before an injury in the second half. Wide receiver Elijah Metcalf had a standout performance with eight catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. On defense, linebacker Jaden Yates recorded a team-high seven tackles. Defensive end Mike Green is currently tied for the national lead with an average of 1.5 sacks per game.

ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN
Western Michigan also enters the game with a 1-2 record, having secured their first victory of the season with a 59-31 win over Bethune-Cookman on September 14. Like Marshall, they suffered a loss to No. 3 Ohio State, falling 56-0 on September 7. The Broncos are led offensively by quarterback Hayden Wolff, who has recorded 517 passing yards and three touchdowns this season. On defense, linebacker Donald Willis has a team-high 27 tackles, while defensive tackle Mason Nelson has contributed with 3.5 tackles for loss.

SERIES HISTORY
This matchup marks the 35th all-time encounter between Marshall and Western Michigan. The Broncos lead the series 22-12, though Marshall has won five of the last six meetings since rejoining FBS in 1997. This will be the teams’ first matchup since 2004.
