19th-ranked Illinois fell to 9th-ranked Penn State by two touchdowns and could drop out of the rankings. 20th-ranked Oklahoma State faced a significant loss to 23rd-ranked Kansas State, which would allow the Aggies to move up at least two spots—unless Boise State, right behind them, surpasses A&M.

15th-ranked Louisville lost to 16th-ranked Notre Dame, and 10th-ranked Utah was defeated by an unranked Arizona, but it’s uncertain if either team will drop far enough for A&M to surpass them.
