Where will Texas A&M football land in the AP top 25 after moving to 4-1 on the season?

Projecting where Texas A&M football will land in the AP top 25 after defeating Arkansas to move to 4-1

Although it came with a fair amount of stress, Texas A&M football has now achieved four consecutive victories following their disappointing loss to Notre Dame. This ties their longest winning streak since the middle of the 2021 season when they won against Alabama, Missouri, South Carolina, and Auburn in succession.

Since their defeat to the Irish on August 31, the Aggies have bounced back well. While they haven’t faced another challenge as tough as Notre Dame yet, they have been managing with a backup quarterback.

Throughout this winning streak, every part of the Aggies’ team has stepped up. In their most recent game, it was particularly the A&M defense—and a late contribution from Le’Veon Moss—that made the difference.

As the Aggies await the AP Top 25 rankings due today, it’s worth considering where they might land. Wins against unranked opponents, even if they’re Power 5 teams, typically don’t lead to big jumps in rank; instead, teams tend to hold their positions. Currently sitting at 24, the Aggies might not overtake any teams ahead of them that also secured victories, but a few teams above them did lose yesterday.

19th-ranked Illinois fell to 9th-ranked Penn State by two touchdowns and could drop out of the rankings. 20th-ranked Oklahoma State faced a significant loss to 23rd-ranked Kansas State, which would allow the Aggies to move up at least two spots—unless Boise State, right behind them, surpasses A&M.

15th-ranked Louisville lost to 16th-ranked Notre Dame, and 10th-ranked Utah was defeated by an unranked Arizona, but it’s uncertain if either team will drop far enough for A&M to surpass them. I expect A&M to rise to 22 this week, setting the stage for a ranked matchup at home against Missouri next Saturday.
