The No.7 OT in the country has Texas as a top six finalist.

Steve Sarkisian’s recruiting team is actively seeking out top-tier offensive line prospects. Despite Michael Fasusi being the primary focus, the Longhorns have recently intensified their pursuit of four-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers.

Rogers is expected to announce his decision prior to Fasusi, with Texas eagerly anticipating the outcome on Saturday, July 6. The offensive tackle revealed his commitment date and the six leading schools on a specific date.

Texas is among Rogers’ favored selections, alongside other SEC institutions such as Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas A&M, Florida State, and SMU.

Texas has been closely monitoring Rogers since the initial stages of his recruitment process, extending an offer in late January 2022. The up-and-coming high school senior from Mesquite, Texas embarked on official visits to all six finalists during the official spring visiting period and familiarized himself with the Forty Acres on June 14. Additionally, he toured Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and FSU that month, following previous visits to Missouri and SMU in May.

The visit to Austin played a pivotal role in solidifying the Longhorns’ position as one of the top six choices for the 6 ft 6 in, 311-pound prospect.

Despite Missouri coming into the picture a year prior to Texas, it currently holds the lead in On3’s RPM predictions, with a 59.8% likelihood. Oklahoma follows with a 12.8% chance, while Texas and SMU trail behind with less than 10%.

Rogers holds the ranking of the No. 7 offensive tackle and the No. 55 overall player in the nation, as well as the No. 13 player in Texas, as per the 247Sports Composite ranking.
