Dallas Stars sign forwards Matěj Blümel, Emilio Pettersen to one-year contracts

The Dallas Stars have extended the contracts of forwards Matěj Blümel and Emilio Pettersen for another year, as announced by the team on Monday. Both players have signed two-way contracts for the 2024-25 season.

In his second season in the AHL, Blümel topped Texas in goals with 31 and ranked second in points with 62 over 72 regular season games. The 24-year-old achieved personal bests in goals, assists (31), and points, finishing the season as the league’s fifth highest scorer. He also led the team with 5 goals in the Calder Cup playoffs.

Blümel was selected as one of three Texas skaters, alongside Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven, to represent the Central Division at the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic.

He has scored one goal in six NHL regular season games, all with Dallas.

Pettersen, aged 24, divided the 2023-24 AHL season between the Calgary Wranglers and the Texas Stars, recording 30 points (7 goals, 23 assists) in 54 games before being traded to Dallas on March 7.

Following his move to the Stars, Pettersen contributed eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in 12 games with Texas and contributed five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in seven Calder Cup playoff games.
