JUST IN: Former LSU QB Fired As Coach, Faces Mighty Lawsuit Over $74,000

Former LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell was dismissed from his position as a volunteer assistant coach at Williamson High School. Additionally, he is confronting a legal claim alleging that he improperly obtained a $74,000 check intended as a donation to the school.

According to a local business owner, Russell requested a donation to assist the Williamson football team in buying weight room equipment. The business owner issued the check, but the school reported not receiving it. Allegedly, Russell deposited the check and withdrew $55,000 from it.

Before attending LSU, Russell played as a quarterback at Williamson in Mobile, Alabama. During his time at LSU, he achieved a passing record of 6,625 yards and 52 touchdowns over three years as a Tiger. Subsequently, he was selected as the top overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Nevertheless, Russell’s NFL career was not successful, starting only 25 games for the Raiders over three seasons. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant draft disappointments in NFL history and concluded his career with a 52.1% completion rate, 18 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions.
