Southampton In Talks To Land Star On Permanent Basis

Southampton are holding talks in a bid to keep hold of one of their loan stars on a permanent basis, but the deal is not done yet

Russell Martin’s team, the Saints, successfully regained promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs this season and are eager to bolster their squad during the summer transfer window.

One key contributor to their promotion campaign was winger Ryan Fraser, who was temporarily playing for St Mary’s on loan from Newcastle United throughout the season.

The 30-year-old brought a wealth of experience to the team in the southern region, and Martin entrusted him with 42 appearances during the Saints’ efforts to secure promotion.

Martin is interested in having Fraser on the team again in the upcoming season, and Southampton is currently in discussions with Newcastle regarding the possibility of securing his permanent transfer.

While the agreement is still pending, given that the winger is not in favor at Newcastle, it’s anticipated that the Magpies will be eager to sell him.

Additionally, Fraser has just one year remaining on his contract at St James’ Park.

With 173 appearances in the Premier League, he is a seasoned campaigner in the top tier of English football. Martin is of the view that Fraser’s involvement will support Southampton as they make their comeback to the premier league.
