Lions select Missouri CB Ennis Rakestraw in the second round
The Detroit Lions have chosen Ennis Rakestraw, a cornerback from Missouri, as the 61st overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Rakestraw is set to join a secondary that recently acquired Terrion Arnold, a cornerback from Alabama, in the first round. Rakestraw was frequently linked to Detroit in the lead-up to the draft.
Here’s an excerpt from our scouting report on Rakestraw:
Rakestraw presents as a promising outside cornerback prospect with some uncertainties regarding his potential to succeed in professional football. He demonstrates intelligence, agility, and excels in the physical man coverage style that the Lions employ on the outside. While his abilities as a run defender are not outstanding, he shows willingness in this aspect. His footwork, hip movement, and balance are exceptional—attributes that a coaching staff can build upon.
