Just In: LSU on the Verge of Flipping Recent Michigan Football Commitment, LSU going all out
Phillip Wright just committed to Michigan football but it doesn’t sound like LSU is going to give up on the wideout so easily.
Rankings matter, but they don’t tell the whole story. In the 2025 class, one of my favorite commitments for Michigan football is Phillip Wright, who is currently one of the Wolverines’ lowest-ranked commitments.
Wright has been steadily climbing the rankings. Initially ranked outside the top 500 when he committed to Michigan, he is now No. 428 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Hailing from Louisiana, it’s clear why Wright is rising. He has run the 100-meter dash in 10.46 seconds. Similar to Jasper Parker, Wright was underrated in Louisiana, but now LSU is making him a priority, which poses a concern for Michigan football.
LSU’s Attempt to Flip a Michigan Commitment
The Tigers recently outbid the Wolverines for Derek Meadows, a top-100 wideout from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. However, LSU has missed out on some other prospects. According to Shea Dixon of the LSU On3 site, The Bengal Tiger, LSU is still targeting Wright and may be making progress toward flipping him.
The report states that LSU is trying to get Wright on campus for their recruiting event at the end of July. If that happens, a flip becomes a real concern. Similar to Parker, one reason Michigan secured Wright’s commitment was due, in part, to LSU’s initial lack of interest.
Well, that situation has officially changed. Wright is now a top target for LSU, and the Wolverines will need to put in effort to retain his commitment until Signing Day. Keep an eye on Wright next weekend—if he doesn’t visit LSU, it could provide some reassurance about his commitment to Michigan.
