Just In: Major Boost As West Virginia Wesleyan tennis facilities receives update

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WV News) — Changes are on the horizon for the West Virginia Wesleyan tennis facilities as the upcoming season approaches.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of two donors, the West Virginia Wesleyan tennis program has added a second indoor court and a new electronic scoreboard to the outdoor courts on Wood Street.

This upgrade comes on the heels of a successful year for the Bobcat tennis program, which saw significant achievements on the court. The men’s team earned a spot in the NCAA tournament, while the women’s team finished second in the regular season of the Mountain East Conference.

For the men, Takuya Kobayasi, the No. 3 seed, was named MEC Freshman of the Year, and Kihiro Karasaw, the No. 1 seed, received All-MEC first-team accolades. Additionally, Mika Kreisel and Ricardo Starosta were recognized as All-MEC second-team players.

On the women’s side, Coach Kyle Hoffman was awarded MEC Coach of the Year, with Dominique Jansen, the No. 1 seed, earning a spot on the All-MEC first team. Omolade Aderemi and Sneha Sundaraneedi were both named to the All-MEC second team.

These vital enhancements are a significant boost for Coach Hoffman’s fourth year leading a promising program.

“We are immensely grateful to our donors,” Hoffman stated. “These past three years have been transformative.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our teams combining for 27 wins last season, and importantly, we continue to uphold our ITA All-Academic status for both the men’s and women’s teams.”
