Just In: Massive Business As UH Cougars Hires Top Professional As Recruiting Coordinator

Clay Van Hook, who has been the head baseball coach at UT Arlington for the past two seasons, has been appointed as the recruiting coordinator at the University of Houston.

He will take on the role of top assistant coach at UH, succeeding Ross Kivett, who left in July to join Tennessee as an assistant coach. Kivett was previously the Cougars’ associate head coach and hitting coach.

“Bringing Coach Van Hook onto our staff is a significant addition,” said Coach Todd Whitting. “His successful recruiting experience at Rice and OU, along with his strong connections in the Houston area and Texas, will greatly benefit our program.”

Before his tenure at UT Arlington, Van Hook was an assistant coach at Rice from 2012 to 2017 and at Oklahoma from 2018 to 2022.
