Just In: Rockets Announce Re-Signing of Veteran Point Guard, A Sensational 6.6 Pointer

The Houston Rockets made the re-signing of veteran point guard Aaron Holiday official, who will return to the franchise for his second consecutive season.

The Houston Rockets announced on Saturday afternoon that they have re-signed point guard Aaron Holiday. This follows the news first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic on July 1 that the Rockets and Holiday have reached an agreement on a two-year deal.

Holiday initially joined the Rockets in July 2023 and played 78 games for the team last season. Despite showing his skills when given the chance by coach Ime Udoka, Holiday’s playing time was inconsistent. He averaged 6.6 points on 44.6 percent shooting from the field and 38.7 percent from 3-point range in the 2023-24 season, starting as a key reserve but seeing reduced minutes later on.

During a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Dec. 6, Holiday scored a season-high 22 points, hitting 6-of-7 shots from behind the arc. Reflecting on his defensive skills in an interview with Inside the Rockets in December, Holiday credited his parents for instilling in him the importance of defense, which has been a significant asset in his game.

Throughout the last three seasons, Holiday has maintained a 3-point shooting percentage of 39.0. Both of his older brothers, Justin and Jrue, have continued their careers with the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics, respectively, accumulating 11th and 15th seasons in the NBA.
