Just In: The Detroit Red Wings Acquires Forward On a Massive Deal Worth $64.6 million

On Monday, the Detroit Red Wings announced that they have signed forward Lucas Raymond to an eight-year contract worth $64.6million,resultinginanaverageannualvalueof$ 8.075 million.

At 22 years old, Raymond was the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NHL draft and has emerged as one of the Red Wings’ top players.

During the 2023-24 season, his third in the league, Raymond led the team with 72 points, scoring 31 goals and providing 41 assists, all of which were personal bests. He played in all 82 games and also achieved career highs in blocked shots (27), hits (69), takeaways (48), and finished with a plus-minus of minus-12.

In his 238 career games, Raymond has collected 174 points, comprising 71 goals and 103 assists for the Red Wings.

Alongside young teammates like defenseman Moritz Seider, he is working to help the Original Six franchise break its eight-year playoff drought. Last season, the Red Wings posted a record of 41-32-9 (91 points) but narrowly missed the postseason, losing the final wild-card spot to the Washington Capitals based on a tiebreaker.
