Just In: UNC Football Program Earns Massive Commitment From Four-Star EDGE From The Class of 2026
In-state product Zavion Griffin-Haynes has announced that he is committed to the UNC football program.
The UNC football program has bolstered its emerging 2026 recruiting class with a formidable edge rusher. Four-star recruit Zavion Griffin-Haynes has decided to commit to the Tar Heels.

Griffin-Haynes is the second commitment for the Class of 2026, following quarterback Zaid Lott from Providence Day School in Charlotte. He is a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite and ranks as the ninth-best player in North Carolina. At just 16 years old, Griffin-Haynes already stands 6-foot-6 but weighs only 220 pounds. He has the potential to add significant muscle once he enters a college strength and conditioning program.
In his last season at Rolesville High, Griffin-Haynes played as a defensive end, recording 65 tackles (26 for a loss), 4.5 sacks, and 20 quarterback pressures for the Rams. Given his impressive performance at such a young age, it’s no surprise he drew attention from top programs in the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC. Ultimately, he chose to commit to the UNC football program over other finalists, including Ohio State, NC State, Miami, and Tennessee.
With some additional development, added weight, and the right opportunities, Griffin-Haynes has the potential to excel in Chapel Hill. We can’t wait to see more of him in two years!
